For more than three decades, Jeff and Cindy Conine have been champions for Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital—a partnership that began when Jeff was a young player with the Florida Marlins.

In the team’s early days, the Marlins’ community relations department encouraged players to get involved locally. Jeff, new to South Florida and without children of his own at the time, knew he wanted to work with an organization that focused on kids. That opportunity came during a team luncheon at Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital when the Marlins were hosting the Dodgers and legendary manager Tommy Lasorda joined them. Jeff even had the chance to meet Joe DiMaggio himself.

Hearing the hospital’s story, learning about its mission, and recognizing the baseball connection, Jeff immediately felt a spark. “This is our place,” he told his teammate. “This is where we want to focus our efforts.”

Over the years, that commitment has grown into a lifelong partnership. The Conines have helped raise millions of dollars to support children and families through events like the Conine All-Star Golf Classic. The tournament has generated support for the Conine Clubhouse, a hospitality house that provides free lodging for families whose children are receiving care at Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital, welcoming over 25,000 families during its 30-year history.

Jeff and Cindy’s connection to the hospital also became deeply personal. When their youngest child was born three months premature and later contracted RSV, Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital provided the care their family needed. “Any time someone experiences the level of compassion and excellence at Joe DiMaggio, they understand why we support this place,” Jeff says.

The Conines remain passionate advocates for the idea that every gift matters. “Giving at any level is crucial to the hospital’s mission,” Jeff explains. Whether through a simple online contribution, an appreciated stock donation, or an earmarked gift to a specific department, Jeff emphasizes how easy and meaningful it is to support the hospital’s work.
